oscar grant

oscar grants death affected alot of us in oakland. he was killed by a bart police officer who say he accidently shot him. if u have a job like that you should know the diffrence between a taser and your gun. i jus dont see how u can mixed them up. He should have been charged with murder instead of manslaughter,because if that officer would have been black people would have took it as if he did it on purpose.

The verdict was very messed up because that wasnt an accident at all. This affects people in the community because if that was to happen to one of us it would be a worst consequence. mehserly got off very easy with this when Grant on the other hand is not even alive

my response to the vertict is that it was very unequitable.I honestly feel that the officer should've had way longer than just 2 to 4 years,thats only for manslaughter.In my opinion it was 2nd degree murder,it just shows that even now the judicial system is still unfair after Africab=n Americans have had the most superior judges such as Thurgood Marshals, African Americans have already ensured so much such as lynchings,not receiving the same education as whites, being sold,broughten on a ship being judged and denied because of the color of our skin. It especially was'nt fair that the jury was all caucassian,most people already expected this to happe because whites dont want us to be self sufficient they always saw us as the minority, they never want to see us rise to the top. If it was a black officer who killed a white man it wouldve been a totally different outcome.Oscar Grant and his family deserve justice and this isnt justice at all, my mother was killed and I know that whoever killed her deserves a harsh sentence, a want that man to feel how me and my family felt when my mother was taken away from me. I wonder if things will ever change for the youth growing up and our future,I hope so but Matin Luther King once said that violence is not the answer, when you approach the situation without using violence America and society looks and respects you in another light, nonviolence get things done but it depends on who the people are dealing with the situation. Oakland was angry,when youre angry you do things you normally wouldnt do, they were angry because we are already loosing too many of our African American youth from them killing eachother, while the white man is just watching us do it,not trying to come into our community and make change neither is a cop, so it was messed up for a youth to loose his life because of a cops wrong decisions and faults, African Americans may never receive change and justive but burning down our own community and destroying it will never solve the problem

The Verdict!

I am very upset with the verdict. The justice system is terrible, they had absolutely no reason to give mehserle anything other then murder. First of all, if you look at the video of oscar grant getting MURDERED you can clearly see that it was not an accident. Oscar Grant was on the ground face down in hand cuffs, he could not resist arrest, mehserle's gun and his tazzer are on different sides of his hip and he will know the difference even in a panic because the tazzer is very distinctive. The way he held the gun over oscar grant made the gun very visible mehserle and he shot oscar grant anyway. If a person kills someone honestly on accident they would not be as calm as mehserle was, he shot oscar grant and then just put his gun back in the holster like nothing happened. Mehserle murdered Oscar Grant and he should serve much more than 2-4 years.

The Oscar Grant Verdict

I truly feel that the verdict was totally unfair. It has effected a lot of people in the community of Oakland.2-4 years so not enough time for a murder case. I feel that he should of at least got 16 to life. Also i feel that the judge didn't have to set up a court date because when watching the video it shows and tells it all. He should of got life just for the video. It clearly shows that Oscar Grant was Innocent and cooperative. Personally it effects me because i don't think the amount of time he got was right because my brother received 15 years for robbery when it was clearly on the tape that he had nothing to do with the robbery. And Mehserle has a murder case and didn't get close to 15. Life is not fair. This life is not fair. But i guess life is not fair.
